East Cork Choral Society perform Choral Masterpieces from the 16th and 17th Century

On Saturday 25th November at 8pm in St. Patrick’s Church, Lower Glanmire Road, East Cork Choral Society’sprogramme includes Bach’s finest works on Advent themes. These works have rarely (if ever) been performed in Cork.
His Magnificat combines colourful orchestration and lively choruses with lovely solo movements. The Cantata,‘Wachet Auf’ (Sleeper’s Wake) is built around the familiar hymn tune, treated with Bach’s inimitable skill, with beautiful duet movements in between verses.
Finally, Charpentier’s Te Deum, famous for its opening trumpet tune, will be aired in full, a lively work with ever changing textures of orchestra and choir.
With an array of some of Cork’s most promising soloists, including our own Peter Stobart, Chloe Kiely, Gemma Magner, Nicholas McMurry, Eoin Cotter, and Michael Krauss stunning orchestral players led by Eithne Willis andColin Nicholls conducting, you are guarenteed an uplifting and unforgetable musical experience.
