The table quiz will be hosted by Wallis’ Bar, Midleton and will begin at 8pm. The event includes a raffle and is open to everyone. A table of four is priced at €40 with the proceeds going towards the Hope Foundation.
“I have to fundraise a good bit for the Hope Foundation as I want to go to India next April with them,” said Roisin O'Sullivan, the organizer of the event. “When fundraising for the trip to India, I need to collect €2,400 for Hope and a separate €1,800 for my travel expenses. I can't use public money for travel expenses so what is raised from the table quiz will go straight towards the Hope Foundation.
Ms O’Sullivan, who attends Cólaiste an Phiarsaigh, Glanmire, was chosen to travel to India as part of the Hope Foundation’s School Immersion Programme which offers Irish Transition Year and 5th Year students the unique opportunity to travel to Kolkata and see first-hand the work Hope does there. The Immersion Programme requires those chosen to commit to raising a minimum of €2,400 for the Hope Foundation itself. The additional travel expenses which include flights, vaccines and insurance will be raised privately by chosen students through friends and family.
“The table will have prizes on the day,” said Ms O’Sullivan. “I haven’t gotten around to getting sponsorship for the prizes just yet, but I will be doing that during the week. I am looking for sponsors for prizes for the table quiz, if anyone is willing to donate.”
The HOPE Foundation works to provide aid and education to the most impoverished and underprivileged of children in Kolkata, achieving this by funding and operating over 60 projects to improve the quality of life for these children and support the development of underprivileged sections of Kolkata’s society.
