The Carrigtwohill community and village will be judged for this year’s Pride of Place competition this coming Tuesday, 15 August.
The judging will take place over three hours and will include a presentation and a tour of the town with drop-in visits from the judges to important locations around the village.
The loose plan includes a presentation which will introduce the judges to Carrigtwohill, with a showcase of all clubs and organisations following that in the Community Centre, rounded off with drop-in visits from the judges to important locations around the village.
Carrigtwohill was selected as the Cork Winner in the population under 5,000 category of this year’s Pride of Place Awards and progressed to the All-Island Round of the competition.
At the start of July the Carrigtwohill Pride of Place Steering Committee put out a call to every one of the village and area’s local clubs, organisations, groups and businesses to pitch in towards Carrigtwohill’s endeavour for this year’s awards. There is over 70 community groups in the Carrigtwohill area and all are asked to be out in force when the competition judges visit at the start of next week.
The IPB Pride of Place Awards, which began in 2003, is currently held in association with Co-operation Ireland, is an all-island competition that acknowledges the work that communities are doing all over the island of Ireland.
