Organised by Pearl Flanagan and Stephen O'Sullivan as a fundraiser for Youghal Community First Responders, nine gentleman staff members of Brookes SuperValu Youghal have agreed to be waxed to raise funds for the great local charity. Peter Brooks, Stephen O'Sullivan, Ger Cotter, Jack O'Neill, Philip Mulcahy, Stephen O'Sullivan Jnr, Alan Frahill, Mark Aherne and Leon Coady will be accompanied by Patrick McCarthy of Community First Responders for the waxing, which will be in the experienced hands of lucky lady, Caroline Power, Beauty Within, Castlemartyr. Seven of the volunteers are having their legs waxed, and two (Alan and Ger) are bravely going all out for the chest wax!
Speaking this week with The East Cork Journal, Pearl and Stephen said "The people of Youghal and surrounding areas are always very good to us so we really wanted to keep the charity local, but there are so many very worthy charities that it was hard for us to pick one. We decided it would be best to ask all our staff members to nominate their Charity, and Community First Responders received the most votes".
An ingenious Trolley Fill is also ongoing in the store where shoppers, for the next two weeks, may donate a prize for the Monster Raffle which will be held.
Prizes include the contents of the trolley, 2 x € 100 shopping vouchers for Brookes SuperValu, a Hamper, Wine, Beauty Vouchers, Hair Vouchers, Lunch and Breakfast Vouchers and more. Raffle tickets at €2 each or 3 for €5 and will be on sale in-store on this Friday and Saturday.
Pearl and Stephen extended sincere thanks to everyone who has helped them in any way with the fundraiser, especially Caroline Power, Beauty Within, those who sponsored raffle prizes, the very generous customers who donated to the Trolley, and especially to their fantastic volunteers for making it all possible.
The nine brave men will be waxed at the Brookes SuperValu Annual Get Together which will be held in Bertie's Bar on 14th October. It should be a real 'hair today gone tomorrow' event as the organisers were delighted to tell The East Cork Journal that there will also be an Auction (after 9pm) for those who wish to purchase and pay for a strip of removed hair!!! However, they warn that supplies are limited and will be in great demand, so come along early and don't miss this fundraising hair-raising event for Youghal Community First Responders.
