Aghada’s Annual Christmas Fayre Takes Place this Weekend

By Alan Sheehan

This year’s Annual Christmas Fayre in Aghada is set to take place this coming Sunday, 26 November.
The third year of Aghada’s Annual Christmas Fayre will once again be hosted at the Aghada community centre and will run from 12.30-5pm. All are welcome to the family-orientated event, which has no cover charge. Proceeds raised on the day will go towards the annual upkeep and running costs of the community centre.
“There will be over 20 stalls taking part with a variety of products,” said Ursula Ennis, administrator at Aghada Community Centre, “from Christmas decorations, chocolate products, beauty gift vouchers and loads more. This is a family day, with Santa arriving at 12.30pm. Family photos with Santa and face painting will be available, and children can do some arts and crafts while parents enjoy a cuppa. During the day some of the local schools will entertain by singing Christmas carols.”
Businesses which have taken out stalls for the day include, but are not limited to Midleton Holistic Centre, Usborne Books, Eden Beauty, Celtic Cowrie, Honest Chips, Ballyhook Bakery, Rostellan Chocolate, Hannah’s Kitchen, Rachel’s Crafts and Brighter Communities Worldwide.
Brighter Communities Worldwide, which was known as Friends of Londiani until the start of this year, is a charitable organisation which first began in Kenya in 2002. At this weekend’s fayre representatives of the charity will be selling crafts made in Kenya such as nativity sets, beaded decorations for the Christmas tree, salad spoons and more. The profits raised at the Brighter Communities Worldwide stall will go towards supporting its community development programmes in Kenya in health, education and economic empowerment.
