Ballinrostig Vintage Club will hold its Annual Field Day on Sunday, 2 July.
The Vintage Club, which celebrates its 10th anniversary, will hold its Annual Field Day in a new venue this year, albeit one still located within Ballinrostig Village. The Field day will run from 1-6pm with adults paying a cover charge of €5 with accompanied children entering for free. Parking is also free.
Proceeds raised from the day will go towards the Vintage Club’s end-of-year cheque presentations to Marymount Hospice, Midleton Hospital and other local charities.
The day will feature a host of activities including displays of vintage cars, tractors, bikes, trucks and stationary engines, trade stalls, the Munster Sheep Dog Trials, a dog show, children’s activities and refreshments.
“Normally we don’t have it until the end of July but we are holding it early due to the Munster Sheep Dog Trials,” Denis O’Driscoll of Ballinrostig Vintage Club. There will be a treasure hunt, Spin the Wheel, trashing, football and kids sports. We will have a refreshments tent and music in the field by Bride Valley Boys. There will be a dance floor there too for anybody who wants to do a bit of dancing. There will be the Sheaf Throwing competition and a tractor barrel race for the Pat Hickey Memorial Trophy. Mark Rafferty from Co Kildare will have his 1982 Ford Granada ex -Garda car on display to show its history. We are having Ger’s Mobile Pet Farm from Co Limerick. The Grand Raffle will take place at the end of the day and at the moment our ticket sellers are out and about selling tickets.”
This year’s Field Day coincides with both the club’s tenth anniversary in operation and Ford motor company’s 100th year in Ireland.
“The big thing is as Ford is celebrating 100 years in Ireland,” said Mr O’Driscoll, we are looking for anything Ford, be it tractors, cars, bikes, trucks and so on to join us on the day. We are especially looking for motorcycles and stationary engines. We will have 24-hour security in the field and all registered vehicles will get a 10-Year Anniversary brass plaque on the day.”
Those looking to register a vehicle or local traders wishing to book a pitch on the day can contact Ballinrostig Vintage Club by the group’s Facebook page or email ballinrostigvintage@gmail.com.
