Residents of an East Cork tourist village say they can’t leave their homes some days due to high volumes of traffic.
A deputation from Ballycotton told the April Sitting of the East Cork Municipality the village is regularly gridlocked with cars parking on both sides of the street, come tourist season the entire area is on lockdown.
A survey carried out of all houses in the Ballycotton area listed parking, traffic congestion and poor footpaths among their top priorities ahead of waste water treatment and playgrounds, Stephen Belton of the Ballycotton Development Company told Councillors.
“Clearly traffic-related problems are uppermost in the minds of the residents and businesses of the village. Ballycotton.”
