Brighter Communities Worldwide will hold its annual Kenya Ball celebration and fundraiser next month on Saturday, 14 October.
Hosted by the Maryborough Hotel, Cork the Kenya ball is the main yearly celebration of Brighter Communities Worldwide, which was known as Friends of Londiani until this past January, and the work it carries out. This year’s ball will also be a celebration of the group’s 15-year anniversary, as it first began its work in Kenya in 2002.
The Kenya Ball 2017 will be begin with a drinks reception at 7pm, followed by a three-course meal at 7.30pm. The event is formal dress and live music will follow the meal, beginning with the Jabronis, a nine-piece band, with a DJ then continuing through the night.
Tickets are priced at €80. The proceeds from last year’s ball went towards increasing access to health care and information, supporting women & girls throughout their lives, making sure that all children can stay at school for longer, providing lifelong learning opportunities for adults with peer led community education courses, bringing clean water to people to improve their health & sanitation and helping to reduce poverty by increasing household income.
Brighter Communities Worldwide is a charity which aims to enable individuals to be authors of their own development and to create an enabling environment for communities to realise change. The registered charity, with its Irish office located in Midleton, work in partnership to deliver projects that ensure access to good and affordable healthcare, education to help people find a job and be able to articulate their needs, an income to sustain a family, and healthier lives with a supply of clean water and better facilities.
