Stylist Alison O’Brien, Bespoke Hairdressing, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, won the coveted Fantastic Fantasy Award at the ALFAPARF MILANO FANTASTIC HAIRDRESSER AWARDS 2017. Now in its eight year, it is the most widely attended awards ceremony in the hairdressing industry on the island of Ireland. The Awards took place in The Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road on Sunday, 5 November.
The Awards give stylists an opportunity to showcase both their creative strengths and commercial acumen, through six artistic, three business and the ALFAPARF MILANO Inixia photographic awards. The newly created ALFAPARF MILANO Fantastic Marketing Award aims to recognise excellence in marketing and communications in individual salons and recognises the growing importance of clearly defined, targeted communications for salons. The 10 winners are recognised and acknowledged as representing the best in Ireland’s hairdressing industry. The Awards’ prestige guarantees a large volume of contestants with almost 300 hairdressers from all over Ireland dedicating months of hard work preparing their entries for the 10 categories.
The Awards were judged by a panel comprising five internationally renowned industry experts Edoardo Paludo, Derek Bogle, Harriet Stokes, Louise Martinez and Vivica Davies.
Acclaimed stylist, designer and TV presenter, Brendan Courtney, hosted the logistically massive, sold-out event to which some 1,350 stylists and industry insiders attended.
The theme of this year’s spectacular show was Studio 54, capturing the disco-heyday of this infamous and iconic nightclub, located in Broadway in the late 1970’s. The incredibly talented ALFAPARF MILANO Nexxt Generation Style Ambassador Creative team set the scene with a dynamic and dramatic creative segment in homage to this much-lauded club. Intercoiffure Ireland’s Art & Fashion team delivered a choreographed segment directed by Maeve O’Healy-Harte. Paul Stafford, ALFAPARF MILANO Global Ambassador, along with his team from Paul Stafford Hair continued the theme, with their unique interpretation of the club and its hip revellers during its 33-month existence.
ALFAPARF MILANO is internationally recognised as representing the highest standards within the hairdressing industry and is considered by both trade and consumer press worldwide as the undeniable leader in the development of state-of-the-art salon products and services. Its insistence on excellence and technical expertise in everything linked to this prestigious brand extends to the awards ceremony, with judging criteria largely centred on both.
David Donnellan, Managing Director of ALFAPARF MILANO Ireland, “Our ethos as a brand is to foster and support creative excellence in the Irish Hairdressing industry. To that end, we offer Ireland’s largest programme of professional hairdressing courses dedicated to the improvement of technical and commercial skills, and will soon open the largest academy in the British Isles focused uniquely on industry education. The Awards extend a platform to participant salons to show their creative excellence, and recognises the skills and talent required to create styles of real beauty”.
