A welcome home party was held at Clifford’s Bar, Castlemartyr last Saturday, 20 October to celebrate East Cork’s recent success at the National Ploughing Championships.

The Castlemartyr hostelry attracted a large crowd to welcome their champion home.  Trevor Fleming from Castlemartyr won Gold in the Vintage single furrow mounted class last month, following in his father’s footsteps, who competed on the International stage and was an All-Ireland champion in 2010 driving a Ferguson 35 with a 2 -4 plough.   Driving a 1955 Farmall Cub with an international plough, Trevor won the Lake Lands Cup at Screggan Tullamore, Co. Offaly - the first time it was won by someone outside the midlands.

The victory adds to the four Silver and one Bronze already accrued by the East Cork man in his eight  years of competitive ploughing.
