The Time For Tilara trust is running a fundraising Charity Fashion Show tonight, Thursday 13 April at 7.30pm.
The Fashion Show will be held at Midleton Park Hotel and an attendance of over 300 is expected at the fundraiser for Time for Tilara, a trust which aims to a total of €140,000 to cover surgery and rehabilitation costs for Midleton’s Tilara Costa-Holmes.
“We are expecting an audience of about 300 to be in attendance,” said Noel McDonagh, a member of the fundraising committee for Time for Tilara. “It looks to be a very entertaining night. We received a huge response so far from the town and the area. We would like to say thanks for the support and thanks to everybody for getting involved and helping us out. We would also like to give a special word of thanks to Caroline O’Donovan for organising it and to Midleton Park Hotel for providing the venue.”
The evening’s emcees are Helen Murphy, the teacher who runs the fashion blog Daily Diva Diary and David Babington, the fashion blogger better known as Material Boy. The models will include members of the Cork Senior Hurling team, Olympian 400m runner Marian Heffernan and Miss Cork 2017 Tara O’Leary.
The clothing to be showcased on the night is provided by nearly a dozen local businesses, including children’s clothing by Hydes Children Fashion and Kayz Kids, men’s clothing by Coakleys Menswear and Bertelli Menswear and women’s clothing by Katwalk Boutique, Siena Ladies Boutique, Scarlett Boutique, Dakota Fashion and Therapy for Girls.
Those attending will receive gift bags sponsored by the Farmgate, Bite Size, Colbert and Co. Estate Agents and James A. Sheridan Solicitors.
The Time for TIlara trust was set up to raise the costs of selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery and post-operative rehabilitation for young Tilara, who at 12 months old was diagnosed with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, a condition which restricts her movement and causes chronic pain. Tonight’s fashion show is just one of many recent and upcoming fundraisers to help afford surgery for the six year old.
“There was also three small events over the last weekend too that were very good for us,” said Mr McDonagh. “St John The Baptist Church hall hosted a Beetle Drive and a Whist Drive on Friday and Saturday [respectively] which together raised €1,500. Then on Sunday the Midleton Male Voice Choir presented us a check for €1,000. That was fantastic and came completely out of the blue. We would like to say thanks to Kevin Whelan, Honorary Secretary and Rachel Healy, Musical Director of the Midleton Male Voice Choir.
