Cuidiú are hosting a “Cobh Kids’ Clothes Swap” in Cobh Community Centre on Monday, 12 November from 10am-12noon. Simply bring any clothes which are still in good condition that your child has outgrown or no longer wears (how quickly their favourite super hero changes and so, their favourite t-shirt!). This particular event focuses on children aged 0-5 years old.
Co-ordinator Niamh O’Dea said, “The Kids’ Clothes Swap event has become really popular at all the Cuidiú branches. It’s such a great way to help clear out unused clothing, donate it to another child that would love it and, perhaps, pick up something for your own child. In the coming months, we will be holding book swaps and toy swaps also. A simple idea which we have found really works.”
The event is open to all at a cost of just €1.50 for Cuidiú members and €2.50 for non-members. Proceeds raised go directly back to group and pay room rental for the Cobh Cuidiú monthly playgroups. Niamh said, “Cuidiú is all about supporting parents. Our play groups are great fun for the kids and the parents get to socialise and enjoy a cuppa. We are all about non-judgmental support of parents be it through simply socialising together at the play group, through our ante natal classes, breast-feeding support and helping to answer the hundreds of questions every parent has at some stage. We always welcome new ideas and new members to help keep the circle of support going.”
Any remaining clothing will be donated to local needy families and charities.
