Christmas Arrived Early for Youghal Cancer Support Centre as Anonymous Donation of €5,000 makes House Debt Free

Christmas arrived early for the volunteers and trustees at Youghal Cancer Support House, 29 Friar Street, when on Thursday afternoon last when we received an anonymous donation of €5,000. The donation was dropped through the letterbox with no details from the very generous person or person’s who gave so kindly to the charity.

When we found the cheque in the letterbox, we were just blown away with the generosity. The excitement in the house was so surreal, the donation of €5,000 now means we were able to pay off our bank loan and the house is 100% debt free. The house is now fully owned by the people of East Cork and West Waterford and will be used to provide support for those battling Cancer and their families. On behalf of the trustees we would like to thank everyone who has given so kindly to the house in 2018 and since the house was originally purchased in 2016, to all the volunteers who help out and give of their time freely, we can’t thank ye enough.  Without the help of the pubic we would not in a position to have a house offering these services to the public in Youghal, East Cork and West Waterford.  To the person or person’s who donated the €5,000 we will be forever grateful for the donation, this money means the house is now secure and we can focus on providing the services that are needed.  From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you or ye sincerely.

We also would like to thank the following people and businesses that gave free items to get the house open again. They include Michael & Norma Lucey (Furnishing), Brendan& Helen Lucey (Carpets& Floorings), Keith Watkins Signs, Ned O Connell (furnishing ), Anthony Cooper (kitchens), Walsh Carpets and Flooring, CEA Architects, Youghal Cred Union, Alcon, Niall Guerin Construction, Gwillym Dewick (Artist), Hennessey’s Bar and Walsh & Partners Solicitors.

Youghal Cancer Support House is opened every Friday to the public from 10am till 4pm, no appointment is needed.  Any person who is undergoing treatment of Cancer, or has a family / friend who is undergoing treatment is very welcome to call into the  house be it for a chat over a cup of coffee, or to speak to someone in confidence or alternatively to receive and benefit from various touch therapy services and counselling by trained personnel which are provided in the house 100% free of charge.

We at Youghal Cancer Support would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
