Christmas hits Cobh/Great Island Community Centre early this December with two events taking place within the first ten days.
The first Christmas-themed event will be the annual Christmas Craft Fair taking place on Sunday, 3 December. Applications to hold a stall during the eight iteration of the fair are now being accepted, with forms available at the reception of the community centre. The fee per table is set at €30 and is payable by either cash or cheque. The closing date for receipt of application forms and payment is Friday, 17 November.
Last year’s craft fair was very large turnout with approximately 600-to-700 visitors to peruse the plethora of Christmas-themed gifts and accessories on offer, such as cards, cakes, treats, wreaths, knitwear, sewing, jewellery, woodwork projects, etc. An assortment of prizes were on offer as part of a draw, with the event also including seasonal music, refreshments and a photographer available to take photographs with Santa Claus.
The second event hosted by Cobh/Great Island Community Centre will be a Christmas Concert taking place on Saturday, 9 December at 7.30pm. The event aims to provide an evening of delightful Christmas music and song, with the evening’s acts including Ryan Morgan, Alan Carney and the Carrigaline Singers choral group.
Tickets are priced at €15 which includes wine and mince pies, and are now on sale at Cobh Community Centre. Proceeds from the event will go towards the community centre, Cobh Tidy Towns and Cobh Lourdes Fund.
