Cobh Couple thank the Public for their Generosity

The granddaughter of an elderly Cobh couple who were left shaken following an attack by masked and armed thugs at their home earlier this month, has thanked the public for their support.

James and Mary Hamilton, who live in a quiet suburb of the harbour town, were woken by armed thugs on Monday 1st July attempting to raid their property.

It is alleged that three masked men wielding hammers broke windows and a patio door shortly after 7:30am.

The incident, believed to be a case of mistaken identity, happened at the couple’s home in Michael Burke Terrace, where they have lived for over 50 years.

The Hamilton's granddaughter, Charlene McCarthy Hamilton, took to social media last weekend, to thank the community, after a fundraising page set up to secure the family home raised over €1200.
In her post on go fund me, she said "On behalf of my grandparents, they would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of their hearts for all the support which has helped them so much. We have such a great community and they will be forever grateful. Thank you."
