Cobh Lions Club to hold Fashion Show Fundraiser for Cork Cancer Care Centre

By Alan Sheehan

Cobh Lions Club’s second ever Fashion Show and Luxury Raffle will take place on Thursday, 30 November.
The Commodore Hotel, Cobh will host the event with tickets priced at €10. The proceeds will go towards the Cork Cancer Care Centre, which is formally known as the Girls Club.
The event will include a photobooth operated by Gordon Kinsella of Cork Photography available to guests as they arrive with photos available for purchasing on the night. Music will be provided by Mike Bardsley with sound and lighting provided by Dan Noonan. Anne McSweeney of Fashion Fit Fab and You will act as emcee for the night.
The fashion show will feature clothing from Christy's, Keen House, Ryngs, Individuals, Callie's in Midleton, The Girls Club Charity Shop on Academy Street, The Princess Rooms and the newly refurbished Diamond Bridal. Rachael Verwey and Melanie Hewitt Hanlon will take care of the models’ makeup while Liz Cullinane, Rebecca Kavanagh and Collette McCrossan will take care of their hair.
The beneficiary of the event, Cork Cancer Care Centre, is a voluntary cancer support group for all who have or have had cancer, their carers, families and friends. The group receives no government funding and relies on fundraising and donations in order to carry out its work. It provides many services and therapies, including free counselling and Blankets of Hope. The founder of Cork Cancer Care Centre was Ann Dowley Spillane, who passed away last month.
“We would like to thank our generous sponsors who are giving their time and talents,” said Orla Flavin, Club Secretary of Cobh Lions Club. “The night wouldn't be possible without our super models, all fabulous local ladies braving the ramp for such a wonderful charity. Special thanks to Lions of Ireland District 133, District Governor Teresa Dineen who has agreed to participate as a model for us. Our escorts this year, lead by our Club President Cian Delanty, are all members of Cobh Lions Club. With Tuxedos galore they will escort our ladies on and off the ramp. The [Cork Cancer Care] Centre is truly a haven. With Ann Dowley Spillane in our hearts, we will make her proud on the night.”
Tickets are available from the Commodore Hotel or by calling Ms Orla Flavin on 087 265 9880.
