The Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh will hold its Christmas Craft Fair in just over two weeks’ time across two days on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December.
The free-to-attend fair will run from 11am until 5pm each day and will feature a range of handmade gifts by local artists and artisans.
“There is no cover charge. It’s free entry,” said Mary O’Dea, one of the organisers of the event. “We hope to have around 20 stalls. They are going fast. We will have some very good stalls on the day, including a woodturner, handcrafted jewellery, photographers, teas, coffees and cakes, a raffle, Gifts from Kenya provided by Rose Hennessy, Children’s books provided by Mike Donovan, and Beach Hut Crafts which makes beautiful jewellery and crafts from stuff collected from the beach. We will have a large variety of stalls on the day.”
This year’s fair marks the first time the event, which has run for more than five years, will be held for more than a single day.
“This will be the first year we hold this across two days,” said Ms O’Dea. “Previous years it was just for the one day, usually a Sunday at the end of the November. We decided to this year hold it for two days as we felt that people put a lot of effort in putting up their stalls. As it was a lot work for just one day. This year people can enjoy the second day better as they are already set up.”
There are limited spaces left for those looking to hold a table for the fair.
“We only have a limited number available and we already have 12 or 13 booked up,” said Ms O’Dea. “The tables come in two sizes. For a six-foot table it is €60 and then for a 12-foot table is should be €100. That will cover both days.”
