The launch of the Community Cats Network Calendar will take place at Maxi Zoo, Midleton on Friday, 2 November from 5-7pm. The 2019 calendar will go on sale at €7 and all proceeds will be put towards the Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) Scheme operated by The Community Cats Network in the East Cork area. To date, over 2,035 feral and stray cats have been neutered in East Cork since the organisation started in 2012. If you consider that a female cat could, in theory, have 3 litters a year of anywhere between 3-5 kittens in each litter– that is a huge number of potential adult cats making even more kittens!
The group will also launch their ever popular Christmas Cards on the evening. A pack of 6 cards costs €5. The calendars and cards will both be available for purchase at various outlets around East Cork, West Waterford and South Tipperary. Designed by Kate McGroarty from Cobh and sponsored by local vets, catteries and friends of the Community Cats Network, both the calendars and cards will feature photos and stories of the cats which the group has helped over the last year together with some interesting cat facts.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Emilie Peneau, (TNR Co-Ordinator and Co-Founder of the East Cork Community Cats Network) said, “At the launch, we will have a selection of our crafty gifts for cats and cat lovers, as well as refreshments. Anyone who buys cards or calendars on the night will be entered into a draw to win a hamper of animal goodies, kindly sponsored by Maxi Zoo. This is one of our biggest annual fundraisers, and Christmas is the time when people we have helped during the year can support us to help more felines in need”.
Remember, you can also help the Community Cats Network by texting NEUTER to 50300. Each text costs €2, of which the group will receive a minimum of €1.80.
