Cork Dog Action Welfare Group (DAWG) is holding a Wedding Dress Auction and Wedding Showcase fundraiser in just over two weeks’ time on Sunday, 15 October.
Cork DAWG, a registered charity and voluntary dog rescue organisation, will run the event at the Ambassador Hotel in Cork from 1-4pm. Tickets are €10 in advance or €15 on the door, with the proceeds going towards the continuation of DAWG’s work.
The fundraiser will feature 20 brand new and sample wedding dresses in sizes ranging from 6-18 up for auction at discounted prices. These designers wedding gowns, valued between €600 and €3,500, will be available for bidding, with bids opening at €100.
“With the average budget for a wedding in Ireland now between 10,000 and €15,000,” said Ciara Crossan, CEO of event sponsors, “this is a wonderful opportunity for brides to save on their dress costs while supporting a charity that helps so many dogs to find their forever matches, too.”
The Wedding Dress Auction and Wedding Showcase will also feature an array of wedding suppliers and vendors, from photographers and florists to milliners and wedding cake bakers.
Cork DAWG, founded in 2007, is ten years in operation this September and in that time has rehomed almost 10,000 dogs. The group, which is run primarily by a network of volunteers, aims to relocate neglected dogs to loving homes rather than city or county pounds where they would join the 10,000+ dogs that are destroyed in Ireland each year.
