The Cork Rebel Swim took place in 6 Cork Swimming Pools on Sunday November 17th

The third annual Cork Rebel Swim took place last Sunday 17th November in 6 Cork swimming venues. The events were coordinated by Cork Sports Partnership and a number of Cork Swimming Pools to promote Swimming as a Physical Activity for all.

200 participants signed up to take part in either a timed 500m or 1km distance as part of the event. This year’s venues were; LeisureWorld Bishopstown, Dunmanway Municipal Pool, Coral Leisure Centre Cobh Fermoy Leisure Centre, Mallow Swimming Pool and Mayfield Sports Complex.

Speaking after the Leisureworld Bishopstown event, Cathal Geraghty, Cork Rebel Swim Coordinator said

“Cork Sports Partnership was delighted with the 200 swimmers who took part across the 6 locations for what is now the third year of the event. Events like the Cork Rebel Swim would not be possible without the support of local swimming venues, local swimming clubs, Swim Ireland and partner agencies.

He added “We would like to thank Cork County Council who sponsored the event along with Healthy Ireland and The Edge Sports Shop for providing the goodie bag items. Well done to all who took part at the weekend, especially the 135 new Rebel Swimmer taking part in the event for the first time”.
