Leanne and family pictured with Peter Brookes and members of Youghal Chamber of Commerce and Tourism

Leanne Smyth was the delighted winner of Brookes SuperValu Christmas Trolley Dash, and on Thursday last she arrived at the store accompanied by family and friends. Mother of a four months old baby, Leanne told The East Cork Journal that she "was a bag of nerves" and couldn't possibly do it herself so she nominated her sister, Pamela, to do it for her. Pamela made a quick pre-dash up and down the packed aisles, firing questions at Leanne about the items she most wanted, with Mum, Sheila, getting in on the action also. They decided that the main aisles would be Baby products and frozen foods.
On an exciting countdown by Peter Brooks, Pamela took off down the first aisle like a jet on a runway, filling her trolley as she went. She was followed by Peter with a Stop Watch, who kept her informed of every remaining second!!!
She did very well and arrived back with a packed trolley, and big hugs from Mum and Leanne.
Peter Brookes told The East Cork Journal that the Trolley Dash, which has been held in SuperValu for several years, is an initiative with Youghal Chamber. "It is a way in which we can give something back to our community", he said, "and we are always delighted to host the event which is very popular with customers".
Youghal Chamber member, Paul McElduff, Old Imperial Hotel, told The East Cork Journal that the Trolley Dash is one of the ways in which the local businesses can thank their customers "and" he said "it puts smiles on faces".
Well done all.
