Decision on Controversial Cork Harbour Incinerator Deferred For Fourth Time

By Seamus Whelehan

An Bord Pleanála have deferred a decision on controversial plans to locate an incinerator in Cork harbour for a fourth time.
No new date has been set to decide the outcome of the Indaver Ireland application to locate a 240,000 tonne waste to energy facility in the lower harbour.
The planning authority have requested further information from Indaver over a year after the application was submitted, ten months after the oral hearing and eight months after the statutory deadline of 12 July 2016.
This is the third attempt by the company to have their incinerator located close to the Irish Marine Energy Cluster and the National Maritime College.
