A delegation from local voluntary group, Youghal Celebrates History visited Dáil Eireann last week and met with Government Ministers, Heather Humphreys and David Stanton, and Government Officials. Kieran Groeger, Secretary, Youghal Celebrates History, told The East Cork Journal that the purpose of the meeting, which was held in Kildare Street, was to discuss safeguarding Youghal's heritage, in order to create a future for the town.
The visit, which was a historic day for the Youghal Group was also, coincidentally, a historic day in Dáil Eireann, as it was the last day on which Enda Kenny was taking Questions in his capacity as Taoiseach.

Youghal Celebrates History is an active group dedicated to preserving and promoting the unique heritage of the town. Each year they host a History Conference which includes quality speakers, field trips and activities relating to local history and heritage. The 2017 Conference, with an extensive Programme, will take place on September 29th and 30th and October 1st and can be viewed on their website or on their Facebook page.
