East Cork Groups Encouraged to Register For Heritage Week 2017

By Seamus Whelehan

Registration for Heritage week 2017 is now open and Cork County Council are encouraging those who wish to get involved to register their event before 31 May for inclusion in the printed guide.
Heritage Week 2017 takes place between 19 – 27 August.
This year’s theme is “it’s in your nature”, where the country’s natural heritage will become the main focus.
For the first time there will be two themed days.
Wild Child Day, Wednesday 23 August is dedicated to children, encouraging them to put down their spinners and tablets and connect with their natural heritage.
The second themed day is “Water Heritage Day” on Sunday 27 August, aimed at celebrating water in all its forms from sea, rivers and lakes to garden ponds.
From urban wildlife tours to foraging walks to building bee hotels, Heritage Week 2017 is all about being active, having fun and getting involved with our natural heritage.
