The new car park at Inch Beach was officially opened on Tuesday 26 June, providing over 40 car parking spaces.
East Cork Municipality Chairwoman, Councillor Susan McCarthy officiated at the opening, marking the completion of a €50,000 project.
The Municipality Chairwoman was joined at the official opening by Fine Gael Cllr Michael Hegarty, Sinn Fein Cllr Danielle Twomey, Executive Engineer Janet Kenny and East Cork Municipality Executive Officer Joe McCarthy.
The new parking deck further enhances the overall parking capacity at the strand.
For many years the entrance to the Green Coast beach was a dirt track blighted with potholes and the new facility is expected to enhance the popular amenity, encouraging more to enjoy what the area has to offer.
Cllr Susan McCarthy is hoping the new facility will give an extra boost to Marine tourism following the official opening.
“It’s great that we are able to develop local amenities” commented the Municipality Chairwoman.
The Fine Gael Cllr added that she expected the new parking deck to drive numbers to local businesses close to Inch beach such as Inch Hideaway, Inch Surf School, and the nearby An Puc Ar Buile.
