The East Cork Municipality intend to spend in excess of €200,000 on maintaining over 85 kilometres of road this year.
Under the drainage programme almost 40 roads will have their drainage inspected and maintained.
Senior engineer David Clarke told the April sitting of the Municipality, while the works is a function of the normal road maintenance works, the authority were formalising a programme in order to set out clear targets for the coming year.
Under the programme urban areas have been excluded similarly works that are carried out as part of restoration improvements on overlay roads and on roads that are surface dressed.
The senior engineer said the exclusions were made as drainage works were carried out under the specific schemes they were attached to such as the Road Improvement and Surface dressing programmes.
