The East Ferry Rowing Club will stage their annual Panto in Aghada Hall. It will be curtains up on Thursday, 6 December at 7.30pm with nightly shows running through Saturday 8, followed by a matinee on Sunday afternoon, 9 December. Now in its 7th year, with Director and Co-Ordinator Andrea Shepherd at the helm, the East Ferry Rowing Club Panto has been a real festive stalwart of the community during the run up to Christmas each year. This year’s production is “Beauty and the Beast” with Sarah Sorresen struggling with provincial life as Belle, and Hayley Wall-Wallace spellbinding as The Beast. Tickets are just €8 and doors open at 7pm.
Speaking with Kate Deady (Treasurer of the East Ferry Rowing Club), she said, “We currently have over 160 members and are one of the largest Rowing Clubs in East Cork. Our members range widely in age from 5 to 72 years. All funds raised from the Pantos over the years go directly back into the club. Boats cost around €8,000 and oars €4,000 plus there is a lot of vital safety equipment we have had to purchase over the years. Proceeds from this year’s Panto will go towards the purchase of rowing machines. We need 8 to 10 machines, as they allow for increasing fitness levels, especially during the competitive season (May to August) as well as building confidence in our younger or inexperienced members before they take to the water.”
Tickets for the Panto can be purchased from any club or committee member, or contact Kate on 083 1351155 or Andrea on 086 4493857
