Entries Now Closed For Business Awards

There was a fantastic response to the inaugural East Cork Business & Tourism Awards, which closed for entries last week. The Awards, which are being run by Cork County Council in association with AIB and The East Cork Journal, received over 100 entries across eleven categories, with almost 70 different businesses and organisations taking part.

East Cork Journal Editor, Louise Wilson said this week ‘The most hotly contested category was Best New Business which is a great reflection on the entrepreneurial spirit apparent here in East Cork, whilst our East Cork Young Business Person of the Year category has highlighted some great new talent in the region. The judges have a tough task on their hands!”

The panel of six judges now have two weeks to shortlist three finalists and a ‘highly commended’ for each of the eleven categories, with finalists being announced early October.

Finalists will then be invited to a ‘pitch night’ to be held in AIB Midleton on Wednesday 23rd October from 6pm. This is an opportunity for finalists to really sell themselves and their business to the judges, following which the judges will choose an overall winner for each category. Winners will be announced at a special Gala Awards Dinner at the Garryvoe Hotel on Saturday November 23rd, with TV presenter Síle Seoige as guest MC.
