Excitement Growing Ahead of Midleton Lip Sync Fundraiser for Local Clubs

By Jordan McCarthy

The countdown is on to the special ‘Lip Sync Battle’ being held in aid of two Midleton sports clubs, this coming March, and the deadline for interested performers is fast approaching.
The fundraising event takes place on Sunday March 18 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island. On the night, a large crowd is expected to be in attendance, to witness 14 acts battle it out for the top prize. All proceeds are in aid of Midleton GAA Club and Midleton Rugby Club.
Those performing in the Lip Sync Battle will mime or ‘pretend sing’ along to some of their favourite songs, putting on some killer dance moves in the process, in a bid to win over the judges and the audience. It is sure to provide plenty of entertainment. But, the organisers need club members, and the general public, to get behind the event, in order to make it a success.
Speaking to the East Cork Journal, Tracy Saunderson of Midleton Ladies Football Club said; ‘‘we need 14 acts. Each act can consist of one (solo), two, three, four or five members. Anyone interested would need to fundraise – the target we would be asking for would be €600 per person. There are various ways in which people can go about fundraising. We have sponsorship cards available. Table Quizzes seem to be a big hit, as well as raffles.
‘‘The same production company that ran Strictly Midleton are doing this event. The acts are due to start training, with a special choreographer, on the 4 February. So, they would need to register before then. All the 14 acts will perform together as a group act to open the show. Then they will do their own individual performances. Each performance is two minutes long.’’
The well-known Midleton man, Fanta, is on MC duties, for a night set to be filled with fun and laughs. All proceeds from the event will be split between the two sports clubs – Midleton GAA and Midleton RFC. The funds raised will be used for the upkeep and development of the respective local organisations.
