The Annual General Meeting of the Fermoy Branch Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland was held at Fermoy Education Centre, Anderson Place, Fermoy at 2.30pm, on Sunday 24th February
Joe Tobin, Chairperson welcomed all those present. We were joined on the afternoon by Aideen Connolly Southern Region Community MS Ireland, Tom Cronin, Board member of MSI and Gabriel Flynn, Branch Auditor, and thanked them for attending.
Joe continued by thanking the Branch Committee for their support and commitment during the past year and in particular for supporting him in his first year as Chairperson of the branch. He expressed his thanks to all those who assisted with Flag Days, Church Gate Collections, organised fundraising events and volunteered in any way throughout the past year. He went on to thank the public for their ongoing support, which is greatly appreciated as it helps to provide the supports and services for our MS community.
Hon Secretary Pat Kelleher presented an extensively detailed Secretary’s Report outlining the Branch activities for the year. Hon Treasurer Majella Fitzgerald followed by presenting her comprehensive Treasurer’s Report in which she outlined the Branch Finances for the past year.
We lost a valued friend and committee member in October 2018 and the committee paid a farewell tribute to the late Ciaran Goulding. Words seem so inadequate to express the sense of loss of a friend, mentor, advocator and supporter of all the MS family. We will all hold on to our happiest thoughts of our time spent together. We convey our sincerest condolences to Angela and family.
Tom Cronin then presided over the election of officers and thanked the Branch for its continuing work for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Officers for the coming year are as follows:
Chairperson Joe Tobin, Hon Secretary Betty Moore, Hon Treasurer Marie Cronin, PRO & Branch Delegate to Council Mary Sheahan- Lonergan
Aideen Connolly, Community Worker gave an overview of all activities taking place in the Branch area in her presentation.
The Chairperson concluded the meeting and all enjoyed a cuppa. Many thanks to Gus Kelleher and Fermoy Education Centre for accommodating the AGM.
The next Committee meeting will be held in Cluain Dara Day Centre, Fermoy on Monday 4th of March at 8pm. We look forward to welcoming new Committee Members.
