Gardaí have identified the remains of the dead woman found in Youghal on Wednesday as 40 year old Sinéad O’Mahony, from Cork City.
The young mother was discovered on rocks near the Lighthouse, by a local fisherman at 2:40pm on the 23 October.
The remains were recovered in a joint operation involving the RNLI and Coast Guard, before the woman’s body was formally handed over to Gardaí
An autopsy was carried out at CUH yesterday (Thursday 24 October.), as a result Gardaí say they are not treating Ms O’Mahony’s death as suspicious.
A Garda spokesperson has said the result of the postmortem has found the woman’s death was consistent with “a tragic accident.”
An inquest in the death will be held next year.
A file is currently being prepared for the County Coroner.
