Last Sunday evening, Glanmire Capers cast took to the stage for the Seandun Capers Final in Eire Og’s GAA clubhouse. The 14 person cast was made up of members Sarah O Connell, Will Daly, Karen Cashman, John Lonergan, Catherine Kearney, Kevin Smiddy, Sinead Broadrick, Michael Buckley, Aisling Walsh, Declan O Hara, Gillian Kenneally, Tomas Thorton, Mairead O Driscoll and Cathal Cashman and produced by Tanya O Sullivan. Glanmire took our rivals Whithchurch and Kinsale for the Seandun title.

Glanmire opened proceedings with a lively dance to a Meghan Trainor song. The weeks of practice made it a strong opening with the packed audience giving a raucous applause.

Glanmire followed up with some excellent comedy sketches, Irish traditional music and dance before the ballad group gave a beautiful rendition of U2’s “With or Without You”. Additional sketches followed and you could see the work put in by the cast as the show flowed without a hitch. The cast closed off with another dance number, this time a more couple based number to the massive hit “Shut Up and Dance with Me”

Glanmire took their bow to the boisterous appreciated of friends, family and assembled guests.

Firstly, Will Daly and Cathal Cashman secured best act on the night. Followed by Tanya O Sullivan, claiming the producer award. Glanmire looked very polished on the night and a massive thanks to Tanya for her hard work. Ultimately Glanmire’s performance proved to be the best of the night with Glanmire taking home the Seandun title and will be joined in the National Final by Kinsale. Glanmire will now enter the Cork County round in 2 week’s time, while in the New Year; Glanmire will go into the National Semi Final of Capers. Well done to the cast, Tanya and all the backstage crew on the win!!
