This weekend marks the highlight in the Basketball season, with National Cup finals taking centre stage in Dublin.
Ambassador UCC Glanmire are bidding to win the Hula Hoops Women’s National Cup for the fifth consecutive year and they take on DCU Mercy in the decider on Sunday evening (tip-off at 5.30pm). The East Cork side overcame their Cork neighbours Singleton’s Super Valu Brunell in the last four, with a 77-66 victory in Cork earlier this month.
Having won the cup for the past four years, Glanmire will fancy their chances of adding a fifth title this weekend. However, they will need to defeat a tough side in DCU Mercy, who currently lead the way in the Women’s Super League.
Earlier in the weekend, the same two clubs will battle it out for the honours in the Hula Hoops Under 18 Women’s National Cup final. That takes place on Saturday at 12 noon. All games across finals weekend (26th Jan – 28th Jan) are being held at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght.
