Good News in Sight for Glounthaune Men’s Shed Movement

Cork County Council have given some hope to the Glounthaune Men’s Shed who are looking for a permanent home.
The local authority announced this week it would look at leasing a vacant site to the popular group near the Rock Grove Industrial Estate.
The move comes following a motion tabled at the November sitting of the Cobh and Glanmire Municipality by Fine Gael Councillor Anthony Barry.
Men’s Sheds are international mental health initiatives allowing men to share their skills and make new friends in an effort to tackle issues such as isolation and mental health problems.
Cllr Barry’s call was backed by the Municipality chairman Padraig O’Sullivan a supporter of the initiative.
Cllr O’Sullivan in backing the motion quipped “it’s the first time the people of Glounthaune were willingly coming towards Little Island.”
Paraig Lynch the Municipality Executive officer said he would refer the matter to the property section of County Hall.
He said subject to the member’s approval the authority could look at leasing the area with the condition if the site is required at a later stage it would revert back to the local authority.
