A Karaoke Fundraiser in aid of the upcoming Midleton Relay for Life will take place this Saturday, 12 August.
The Karaoke Fundraiser will be hosted by the Blackbird bar in Ballycotton from 9.30pm. The event will also include a raffle featuring prizes sponsored by local businesses. The proceeds from the night will go towards Midleton Relay for Life.
“We have a good few singers already, but we will take more on the night,” said Frankie Tattan, one of the organisers of the event. “We have eight sponsors as well for the raffle on the night, and we will probably go to ten. They are all local businesses and we are grateful for their support.”
The Karaoke fundraiser is organised by Ms Tattan and her fellow members of Blackbird’s team which will take part in the Midleton Relay For Life.
“We’ve a team from the Blackbird for the relay,” said Ms Tattan. “My sister-in-law and I did it as we lost a sister-in-law last year. The team leader is Norah May Beausang. This is just us trying to help out people with cancer. All the proceeds will go towards the relay. We already held a coffee morning and a car boot sale. The car boot sale was very good and we held the coffee morning in Ardnahinch at the end of July. It was a very successful coffee morning.”
Midleton Relay for Life is a 24 hour team-based walking relay which raises money for the Irish Cancer Society and will be held at the CBS Secondary School in Midleton beginning on 26 August. Each team comprises between 10-15 members with at least one member required to remain walking the course at all times, however teams are not mandatory and neither is attending the event for the full runtime.
