The Catholic Church have offered Cork County Council a plot of land under licence to provide a secure parking area in Killeagh village.
Fine Gael Councillor Michael Hegarty told the April sitting of the East Cork Municipality plans have already been drawn up, to lay the 40 bay car park on a green area, to the rear of the church, off the Mount Uniacke road, which links the church to the village.
The proposal from the local curate, Fr Hazelwood is aimed at addressing current and future demand for parking in the village.
The new car park would not only provide a much-needed facility for shoppers, pub customers, church goers and village hall revellers, but would alleviate parking problems being experienced in the residential areas close to the village centre.
