Leamlara Hall Hosting Coffee Morning in Aid of Renovation Fund this Friday

By Alan Sheehan

The Leamlara Hall Committee has organised a coffee morning and book sale for tomorrow, Friday, 6 October to fundraise for renovations to the hall.
The fundraiser will begin at 9.15am and run until 12pm and will offer home baking and books, as well as complimentary tea, coffee and cakes. The event will also include a kids’ corner.
The Leamlara Hall Committee will gratefully accept any donations of unwanted books in good condition and home baking for the fundraiser. Books can still be dropped into the Montessori in Leamlara today, Thursday 5 October. Donations of home baking can be brought to the hall on the morning of the fundraiser.
“There’s a new committee that has come together in order to raise funds for the desperately needed renovations to the hall,” said Linda O’Brien, member of the Leamlara Hall Committee and one of the organisers of the event. “There is a lot of work done which will have to be carried out in stages. This coffee morning is the start of our fundraising.”
The proceeds from the event will go towards the renovations of Leamlara community hall, which is in such disrepair as to require multiple stages of works beginning with overhauling the floor. The majority of the funds is hoped to be acquired through a LEADER grant which can cover up to 75% of the costs, leaving the Leamlara Hall Committee to fundraise the remaining amount.
LEADER was set up in 1991 and aims to provide rural communities across the European Union with the resources to actively direct the local development of their area.
The next fundraiser for the renovation fund will be a traditional music night hosted at Woods’ Bar, Lisgoold from 6-9pm on Sunday, 22 October. The Leamlara Hall Committee are looking for local musicians who would be interested to play on the night.
