Killeagh native and Macra member, Aidan Morrison, will be attending and representing his Branch at the 13th Annual Mr. Personality Festival, in hopes of coming home with the title .The event takes place in the Springhill Court Hotel in Kilkenny over the weekend of 12-14 April, hosted by Kilkenny Macra Branch and sponsored by Kilkenny/Carlow and District Farm Relief Services.
23 Year old Aidan graduated from UCD with a degree in Agriculture which he is putting to good use on the home farm in Killeagh. Speaking with The East Cork Journal, he said, “I haven’t been to the festival before but have heard it’s a great weekend and something to look forward to after a long Spring on the farm. Last year I was in Australia doing work experience on various dairy farms, and then spent 3 months travelling from Brisbane to Sydney with some friends. We’ve also travelled the west coast of America, which was great. Along with travelling I’m involved with the Killeagh GAA and play hurling and football.”
Contestants, all aged between 19 and 35 from 27 regions of the country, will make their way to the medieval town, local supporters in tow, for a fun filled weekend. There, they will be put through a variety of fun (or at least fun for those watching) activities. Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Festival Secretary Lisa Marie Walsh said, “Each contestant will be interviewed on stage on the Friday evening in front of the crowd. They can let off steam then with our disco with live band Hot Fuss followed by a DJ. Saturday morning, they will have a private interview, followed by some contestant challenges.” The challenges are being kept under wraps to be revealed at the festival but have, in the past, included some hilarious team-building skills.
The winner of the festival is announced at midnight on the Saturday during the banquet and disco (music by Deuces Wild) and will be crowned Mr. Personality 2019.
Best of luck, Aidan, from all at the East Cork Journal!!
