Dylan Wiggins and Chris O ‘Doherty are the winners of this year’s Cork's Got Talent which took place on Saturday night last at the Radission Blu Hotel, Little Island to a sell-out crowd. The fundraiser is now in its 4th year and all funds raised from the night go directly to Down Syndrome Cork.

The first round of auditions took place in mid-March at the Midleton Park Hotel, where Dylan (20) from Midleton and Chris (19) from Dungourney received great feedback from the judges and some positive pointers to help them improve their routine for the grand-final. The duo self-choreographed their amazing commercial dance routine in 3 hours and from then it was constant rehearsal to put on the final touches and get the routine completely in-sync.

Speaking on stage with Mark O’Sullivan aka Fanta (MC & Event Organiser) on Saturday night when asked what would they do with the prize money of €1,000 along with a beautiful handmade trophy plate from Ron Barrett, Chris said “we have both been accepted into Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in Bedford, England and if we win we will be putting the money towards the cost of that”. After the duo performed they were greeted with more positive feedback from the 5 judges Rob and Marion Heffernan, Jamie Stanton, Shin Hayes and Pat Vogue Walker, who were all blown away by their performance and noting how the duo had taken all comments given to them in the semi-final and improved the routine. The judges mentioned they expected a very bright future for the pair.

Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Chris said, “We are absolutely thrilled with the win, it was a fantastic night.” When asked about the move to England later this year he said “we're going over in the summer to look for accommodation and then will move over in September. It's an exciting time and we're looking forward to it.”

Chris and Dylan would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to “our families and our dance teachers, Diane Connaughton and Billie Jean Sergeant and everyone who came and supported us”.
