Cork Dog Action Welfare Group (DAWG) can no longer take in new dogs for an indefinite period as monetary problems take hold after a “horrific” start to 2017.
“We’re closed at the moment,” said Martina Kirby, a volunteer at DAWG and manager of its charity shop in Midleton. “It’s shocking the amount of dogs we are looking after. We are getting calls every five minutes from people looking for us to take more in, but we just can’t. We have to look after the dogs in our care now.”
