On Saturday, 23 June the new ECCE Pre-school at Midleton Family Resource Centre at Sandy Walk, Broomfield held an Open Day for prospective students and their parents. A few new additions on the day, together with those already enrolled, brings the number of students starting their educational life in September at the new facility to 22. Speaking with the East Cork Journal, Family Resource Centre Co-Ordinator, Seán Ahern said “We were amazed at the fantastic turnout to view the new property. We leased the building last July and a lot of work had to done internally. The contractors liaised mainly with our Childcare Supervisor, Zoe O’Brien, to ensure that all specifications and moderations fell in line with best practice policies. We are extremely proud of the finished product and look forward to welcoming our new students in September. We would like to thank all our new neighbours here in Broomfield for their wonderful support.”
The main objectives of the Midleton Family Resource Centre, as well as the provision of childcare facilities are, giving practical assistance to community groups, expert support services, employability services, community information and education and training courses and opportunities. All these services are vital in the community and have aided, and continue to aid, many families in the East Cork area.
