Midleton Food Festival to Re-launch as FEAST Cork Food Festival Next Week

By Alan Sheehan

The Midleton Food and Drink Festival will officially re-launch as FEAST Cork Food Festival next Tuesday, 22 August.
Now heading into its 15th year, the Midleton Food and Drink Festival has been rebranded the FEAST Cork Food Festival and will be officially launched at the Jameson Heritage Centre, Midleton next week. The evening will feature a four-course meal and live music, aiming to provide guests with a showcase of East Cork’s and a taste of what is to come for this year’s festival in Midleton. Tickets are priced at €60 per person with the proceeds going towards the costs of the FEAST Cork Food Festival.
Guests will be offered a Jameson with ginger and lime as a pre-dinner drink, with each course of the four-course meal prepared by a different Midleton-based restaurant. Farmgate will prepare the first course, Ferrit and Lee will prepare the main course, the SAGE restaurant will prepare dessert and the Jameson Heritage Centre’s own Malthouse will prepare the cheese course. Wine will be served during the meal and Sean Kelleher will provide live music on the night.
This year’s FEAST Cork Food Festival will again primarily take place in Midleton but will also include a large number of fringe events through the wider East Cork area from the opening day on Sunday, 3 September to the festival’s Market Day Saturday, 9 September.
New additions to this year’s itinerary include the Feast Cork Restaurant Tent, which will see local restaurateurs band together to offer visitors a taste of East Cork, and a long table communal eating area set up along Midleton’s Connolly Street.
The FEAST Cork Food Festival has a legacy of being one of the longest-running and best-attended food festivals in the country, attracting in excess of 30,000 visitors in previous years. This September’s festival looks to be no different as it aims to celebrate the very best of East Cork produce, food, drink, landscape, culture, craft and music.
Tickets for the launch night are limited and can be purchased at the Midleton and Area Chamber of Commerce officer or online at www.feastcork.ie. Anyone wishing to volunteer for the festival can contact its organisers at hello@feastcork.ie or via the Feast – East Cork Food and Drink Festival Facebook page.
