By Seamus Whelehan

A talented young Midleton girl, a star in the making, is through to the final of the Munster Star Search.  10 Year old Isabell Barrett lit up the stage of the Castle Hotel in Macroom last Friday (12 April) to advance to the finale next month.

The Primary School student who attends Scoil Bhride, performed a high-octane rendition of Charlotte Church’s Tonight.   After blowing the judges away with her powerful voice, Isabell received an invitation to the final round on Sunday 5 May.

The schoolgirl will now be among 34 contestants in the running for the €1,000 prize money.   Isabell has already made a name for herself having starred on stage alongside her mother, Elaine, on Donncha’s Two Talented Show on RTE last year.  The Fourth Class pupil, a student of musical theatre with Billie Jeans Rhythm Dance Company, also attends Deborah Desmond’s voice training in Midleton.

Mum, Elaine Barrett said her daughter is taking everything in her stride and will enjoy her time on the Castle Hotel stage next month, no matter what.  “She’s always performing, and sometimes we have got to tell her be quiet so we can hear ourselves talk at home! She loves it so she’ll go, do her best, and enjoy it no matter what.”

The young star comes from a line of great singers and her Great Grandmother and Gran Aunt are known to hold a tune.   Fans on social media have commented on the clip of the young singer and praised her dynamic voice.

One person said they couldn’t believe how mature her voice sounded during the song, with other fans predicting great things for the “superstar”   We wish you all the best in the final next month.
