Midleton Male Voice Choir Young Musician Scholarship

Midleton Male Voice Choir holds its 13th consecutive Annual Gala Concert on Sunday April 9th in the Midleton G.A.A. Pavilion, doors open at 7.00pm, and the concert commences at 8pm.
Every year to date the concert has played to a sell-out audience and has become part of the social fabric of Midleton town.
On the night the 2017 recipient of the Midleton Male Voice Choir Young Musician Scholarship will be announced.
The Scholarship, which has a value of €1,000, is aimed at young people of secondary school age between 12 and 19. All entrants who meet the requirements are invited to perform, in private, before an adjudicator. The adjudicator's decision is final. If, in the opinion of the adjudicator, two applicants deserve the Scholarship then the award is divided between them. The adjudicator is totally independent of the Choir and no member of the choir has any input into the selection process.
One of the requirements is that the winner is obliged to perform on the night of the MMVC Gala Concert.
The Scholarship fund can be used in a variety of ways subject to the agreement of the Scholarship Committee. All activity generated by the use of the Scholarship Fund must be directed towards the musical improvement of the student. To date the money has been mostly used to pay for master classes in the recipient’s discipline. Two previous winners have gone on to play with Ceoltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and toured both Canada and the U.K.
This Scholarship is not a talent competition, it is about this community Choir working towards giving something back to the youth of the community. This Scholarship may assist in shaping the future of an individual.
The standard of auditions from entrants to date has been very high. The Choir look forward to the future of the Scholarship and perhaps seeing some of their recipients becoming household names.
To apply for this Scholarship please email healyrh@gmail.com with your name, address, telephone number and Instrument (Voice is an Instrument).
Application closing date 5pm, Thursday 16th March. MMVC will be in contact by telephone with audition details.
