Fiona Stack the leader of the syndicate told the East Cork Journal of the excitement when they realised the extent of their win.
“Susan Lehane rang Sunday morning when they got the new’s here (Hurley’s Super Valu). We put the ticket under the machine and bling, bling, bling. I got Susan to double check it and then all chaos broke loose.”
The group purchased the golden ticket in store making it the second big win for the Midleton supermarket.
John Hurley (Proprietor, Hurley’s SuperValu) said “we had a €200,000 win about 7 years ago but they remained anonymous, so this is our first real win.”
He went on to add “it’s all about the staff 5 former employees and 5 current staff, 10 excellent girls.”
The group say they have no definite plans with the win but say “it may help make a holiday more comfortable this year.”
