Molly's Pub and Steakhouse is the venue on Friday, 27 July for a Table Quiz in aid of Cobh Rescue Horses. The recent heat wave has left grass levels at an all time low, and the cost of feeding has risen tremendously during this time. The amount of horses and ponies in need of care has increased dramatically of late. In fact, in two weeks, the amount of animals in their care has doubled to 24.
The Quiz, which is to help raise support and awareness, will take place at 8pm and will be followed by Molly's own DJ Shane at 9.30pm. The cost per table is just €25 for a team of 4. There will also be a fantastic raffle with lots of prizes, so be sure to head along to Molly's Pub & Steakhouse for a great night out, at the same time raising much needed funds for rescued horses and ponies. The care of the horses is done by volunteers. The day to day routine of looking after these blameless animals is hard, physical work before you even factor in any kind of rehabilitation work although, as volunteer Tara Murphy told The East Cork Journal, “While it is physically draining at times, it is extremely rewarding. Bringing malnourished, neglected and abandoned horses and ponies back to a re-homeable condition pays back dividends in wellbeing to us as volunteers. It's great when you see them putting on a bit of weight, their wounds (both physical and physiological) slowly healing and their ability to form bonds with other horses and humans return. We are always looking for capable volunteers to help us and, of course, foster and forever homes for our charges. If you think you can help us in any way please contact us through our Facebook page”.
There will also be a 5k dog walk this Sunday, 22 July starting at 11.30am from the High Chaparral in Ballymore, Cobh. Cost of participation is just €5 and there will be tea/coffee and cake in the bar afterwards.
