Midleton Teenage Photo Exhibition Extended

By Seamus Whelehan

What has proven to be a hugely popular photo exhibition run in association with Cork County Council and Cloyne Youth Diocesan Service, has been extended.
The photo exhibition focuses on how sixteen year olds Cait Kerrigan, Sophia Cogan and Tamzin Muldowney view their community.
The photographic display which was run in conjunction with the Midleton Mid May Arts festival will continue at My Place Youth drop in centre until mid-June.
The programme was part funded by Cork County Councils Arts Department and was run by local photographer and filmographer Cara Sweeney over a twenty four week period.
The camera club workshop was designed to give Midleton’s teenage population confidence in taking and developing their own photographs.
CDYS Youth officer Ross Bonner said the display really gives a snap shot into the how youth view their surroundings.
“It’s very personal. It’s their take on their community. What community means to them. What stands up in their community for them.”
