18 year old Anna Stack from Midleton has created a self-illustrated colouring book that is due to go on sale shortly. The colouring book, entitled “Anna's Dream World” is full of fantastic illustrations by Anna and allows the encouragement of the simple, yet vital idea to “do your own thing”. There are no wrong colour choices, no wrong methods or media for artistic thinking. The book will be available in Blackpool Shopping Centre and also in Centra, Carrigtwohill.
All proceeds from the sale of the colouring book will go directly to St. Vincent's School in St. Mary's Road, Blackpool where Anna, from the age of 13, was one of the first students in their Lir Hub Autism Unit. The Unit specialises in supporting students with an Autism diagnosis and guides them towards achieving their full potential. It was the first centre in Ireland to have a Girls only Autism Unit.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Anna Stack’s mother Catherine said, “The school and staff at St. Vincent’s have been fabulous and an amazing support to Anna since she first started there in 2013. Her book is an example of what the right kind of educational and personal supports can accomplish. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St. Vincent’s to any parent.”
If any other local business would like to support Anna in her fundraising by selling the book at their premises please contact St. Vincent’s school on 021 4307730 or Anna’s mother, Catherine, on 086 1283940.
