Midleton Food Festival is growing from strength to strength as it relaunches as FEAST Cork Food Festival. Inviting visitors to feast on all things East, the festival will showcase the best of East Cork produce. This year marks the festival's 15th year and organisers are committed to showcasing the area's vibrant restaurants and food producers through exciting additions to the festival line-up.

Midleton food festival this year relaunches as FEAST Cork Food Festival. As its name suggests, the reinvention of this established and well-attended festival sees it grow beyond the town itself to include a number of fringe events in the East Cork area on the week running up to the Festival's Market Day on September 9th. All events run from 3-9th September and are listed on the festival website, www.feastcork.ie.

Provenance and a celebration of everything East Cork has to offer is key to this year’s festival. This year sees the festival return to its roots and showcase the area’s many well-renowned restaurants. Local restauranteurs are set to take to the streets on festival day and will band together to offer visitors a true taste of East Cork in The Feast Cork Restaurant Tent. This tent is but one of many new additions to this year’s festival. This year will also see Midleton’s Connolly Street transform into a long table, feast inspired communal eating area; while the local Courthouse will play host to GIY Ireland who will be holding talks and demos for budding growers.

Speaking about the line-up for FEAST Cork 2017, Sage Restaurant owner & Festival Organiser, Kevin Aherne said, “FEAST is an event which underlines the importance of supporting local business, growers and producers. It promises to be an unforgettable celebration of all things East! We have a rich agricultural and culinary heritage in this area which we can be very proud of and that is what will be showcased in this years festival."

The festival, which has attracted in excess of 30,000 visitors in previous years, will be officially launched in the Jameson Experience Midleton on Thursday, August 22nd. In true FEAST fashion, the launch dinner will be in the historic Jameson Distillery and brings together a number of local chefs and restauranteurs to deliver a 4 Course Meal and an evening of music and merriment. Tickets are €60 and can be purchased online www.feastcork.ie.

Speaking about the impact FEAST Cork has had on the local area, Festival Organiser, John Hartnett said, “The festival brings over 30,000 visitors to the town each year and is one of the longest-running and best-attended food festivals in the country. It's exciting and rewarding to see it grow year on year and it's vital that it is continued to be supported by the local community. We are always looking for volunteers and welcome anyone who is willing to roll-up their sleeves and get involved".

FEAST Cork Food Festival promises to celebrate the very best of East Cork produce, food, drink, landscape, culture, craft and music. From Long Table Dinners & Tasting Menus to Market Stalls & Live Music, FEAST really is flying the flag very high for the East Cork Area.
