Midleton’s Sandra Set for Top Model Final

East Cork’s Sandra McKenzie Vass is among the 50 finalists involved in this weekend’s Top Model Ireland contest – and she’s hoping she can leave with the overall winners’ prize.
The grand final takes place at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on Saturday 20 January. Sandra, 26, is a freelance model, fitness brand ambassador and also works in administration. Hailing from Midleton, she was a contestant in the 2017 edition of the Top Model Ireland contest.
Top Model Ireland was established back in 2006. It is the leading professional model search competition here in Ireland. This Saturday’s final is quite different to other pageants. Top Model Ireland prides itself on its diversity, and also the fact that all contestants receive training in the build-up to the big day, on the catwalk and in photo shoots. They also learn other skills, such as meditation. The initiative is aimed at helping people to gain a career for themselves – in modelling or elsewhere.
Ahead of her appearance at the final of Top Model Ireland this coming weekend, Sandra said; ‘‘yeah, I am looking forward to it. I have enjoyed it all so far. I have gained a lot of experience from working with Mariana Verkerk (Norway’s Next Top Model Coach) and Audrey O'Neill (Top Model Ireland). We’ve done photo shoots and things like that so far. I have been well-trained in doing the catwalk. I was in it last year. I love being on stage and in front of the camera.
‘‘I’m hoping to win it – I’m in it to win. The girl who won last year, she was in London’s Fashion Week. She was also in Vogue magazine. I am hoping my dreams will come true in 2018.’’
The winner of Saturday’s Grand Finale will go on to represent Ireland in the worldwide version.
